Migrating Moths

It seems that I have become a serial competition entrant!  My latest work has been a lot of fun, the brief, Entomology, ran by Textile Federation.  Textile Federation is a creative platform enabling both emerging, and established print designers, to showcase their talent globally.  A creative brief for each collection is given for designers to explore, and the winning designs will be printed onto scarves and sold in Topshop Oxford circus.

I entered two designs into the competition, the first I named Migrating Moths.  This was made up of 2B tonal studies of moths, inspired by the idea of swarming insect flight paths, and moths to light.  I also liked the idea that the pattern of the moths resembled a dandelion clock loosing its seeds in the breeze.  I wanted to give it a night-time feel so selected a midnight blue colour palette.
