Floral

Inspiration was taken from nature. I wanted to create textiles that referenced the environment, using the sky as inspiration I aimed to capture the feeling of depth and moodiness of the clouds, combining this with floral imagery. This collection was produced for autumn and winter with textiles for fashion in mind. Feathers

Two collections were produced using the theme of feathers. I began by making a detailed exploration into the texture and movement found in feathers. I initially wanted to work solely with black exploring surfaces and textures working black on black, but my colour palette grey as the collections developed. As I progressed I began developing a second more geometric collection, working with a broader colour palette. These designs are intended for an Autumn and Winter Fashion collection. Fish

This collection was an exploration into surface and texture, I used the title ‘skin and bones’ in order to explore fish. I began by looking at the patterns and colours found in fish scales and then made designs which were based upon fish skeletons. These designs are intended for a spring and summer fashion collection. Designs [caption id="attachment_48" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Hand drawn digitally enhanced repeat"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_49" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Bright Bone design- Hand drawn digitally enhanced repeat."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_50" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Fish Swarm- Hand painted digital repeat"][/caption] [caption id="attachment_52" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Geo multi Scales- Hand drawn digitally repeated design."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_53" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Kaleidoscopic Scales - Hand drawn digitally enhanced Fish scale design."][/caption] [caption id="attachment_54" align="alignleft" width="150" caption="Pencil Scales- Hand...

Moths

This collection grew from an exploration into the area of Whitechapel in London, I wanted to portray the feeling of the area, that of rebirth and regeneration and chose to use moths in order to achieve this. I drew inspiration from an exhibition which I visited which used the idea of folding paper and was also inspired by the architecture. I converted the buildings into checked designs and combined moth imagery, I wanted to capture the feeling of movement in my designs reflecting the movement within the area as well as creating a rhythm to my designs. The moths metamorphisised into folded origami moths, which then formed a second collection with the same original ideas but with a much more...
